What is DSL? 
DSL (or Digital Subscriber Line) is a new technology that provides affordable, high-speed internet connections.  Depending on the service you select, DSL access can be more than 60X faster than a 56K modem connection...and allows voice & data to travel on a single telephone line at the same time!

Where is DSL service available?
DSL is available to all our telephone subscribers.  It's a great way for rural subscribers to increase connection speeds and eliminate 2nd lines!  If you have further questions, please contact our office.  

What is required to use DSL?
A telephone line, a DSL modem and phone filter (must be purchased from MTC), an active internet account with MepoTelco.net, and a computer that meets the minimum requirements listed below.  NOTE:   Security is an issue with DSL because it is an “always on” connection with a static IP address.  Mediapolis Telephone Company strongly recommends that you use a software and/or hardware firewall and do not allow file and print sharing on your computer hooked to DSL. (see links at left)

*Filters are needed for each telephone device, such as fax machines, answering machines, regular dial-up modems, and regular telephones.  It will eliminate the data "noise".

You must have a PC with these minimum requirements for the Modem you are purchasing.

• MTC Technologies recommends computers built after 2005.

• Minimum requirements would be computers built after 2000.

How do I order DSL? 
Call or stop in to fill out our DSL Service Application.  This way we can send you home with your DSL modem & settings sheet.  Once this is completed, service will be established at the switch.  All you need to do is hook up your modem and follow the set-up instructions and you're on your way to lightning speed internet access!  NOTE:   Security is an issue with DSL because it is an “always on” connection with a static IP address.  Mediapolis Telephone Company strongly recommends that you use a software and/or hardware firewall and do not allow file and print sharing on your computer hooked to DSL. (see links at left)
